HARDANGER

The embroidery of Hardanger is a pulled thread work, native, very probably, of Persia where it was worked with colored silks on transparent gauze.

Subsequently it was developed in north Europe and it was the Norwegian town of Hardanger, situated on the homonym fiord, to give it the name.

In Italy it was very diffused between the end of 1800 and the beginning of 1900

It came then practically forgotten and only in the last two or three years it has started again to have deserved notoriety.

The Embroidery of Hardanger is not a particularly complicated workmanship, which allows to realize elegant and refined jobs.

With this technique you can decorate tablecloths, centers, curtains, table strips, pillows and purses.
