THE MACRAME'

Macramé, in Arab, it means "fringes to knotted threads."

In effects this workmanship is founded on the knotting of the threads with which are gotten fringes, laces, grids, partitions, etc.

The origin is ancient: already the Assiris were skilled to create rich fringes to adorn their suits, their covers and the sets of their horses.

They were the Arabs to bring in Europe this technique, it was introduced at first in Spain and then in Italy where it had a period of great diffusion in the XVI° century.

During the XVII° and XVIII° centuries it was primarily worked in some convents and from some Slavic people.

In the XIX° century reappeared in the living rooms where the ladies prepared complicated interlacements to adorn their suits.

Macramè execution is simple and needs employment of few material: a pillow, a twisted thread, some pins and ...... naturally a lot of patience.
