· Laurea in Fisica (Physics degree), Università degli Studi di Firenze, Italy (2005)

         Thesis title:  “Optical characterization of CdSe colloidal nanocrystals for biophysical                applications“

· PhD as Marie Curie RTN research fellow, University of Liverpool, UK (2005/2008)

         Thesis title: “Investigation of growth and structure of gallium nitride based nanowires”

· Post-Doc at University of Sheffield, UK (2008/2010)

         Development of a specimen holder for cathodoluminescence spectroscopy in a high-

         resolution (scanning) transmission electron microscope (S)TEM
