photos by Paolo Collina (thank you Paolo!)

For a long time I wanted to build the Corsair, a dream that almost every modeller has, so when I found a Guillows kit with a 40% discount the temptation was too strong! In the box a tremendous amount of balsa stick, balsa sheet, vacuum formed parts and three well done full size folded plans. You have to decide which kind of detail you want to include in your project: very scale, semi scale or sport scale, the choice is wide and all the parts are in the box. The building is straightforward althought the die cut quality leave a lot to be desired! Converting to electric means modifing or creating some details like: firewall, wing attachment points, battery box, servo bearers and torque rods - double curvature, please, a little tricky!!!...-.Please refer to the photos for the details. A credit goes to Tom Hunt that, with his Model Airplane News Bearcat conversion article, was very inspiring. The power plaint is based on the Graupner 280 FG3 gearbox/motor combination feeded by 8 Sanyo 700 mah AAA size cells, spinning an APC 8X6 Slow or Graupner 8x6 propeller. The motor ask for a 2,8 amp average consumption, giving about 15 minutes of scale flight times. Anyway a little more grunt was required so I ordered a Simprop Acro Speed 280 BB and I 'm going to update the motor department...so stay tuned!!!
