2TH INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
OF COMPOSITION FOR SOLO INSTRUMENT
WITH OR WITHOUT PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT

Rules:

Art. 1
The Competition is opened to all Italian and foreign composers, with no limits of age. The competition is intended for the following instruments: piano, harp, violin, guitar, accordion, flute, oboe, bassoon, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, french horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, melodic percussion (xylophone, marimba, vibraphon timpani), percussion (drum set).

Art. 2
The duration and the difficulty grade of compositions should be adequate to the category is intended for:

Cat. A
Children of maximum age 10 years old - duration max. 4 minutes - Difficulty 1 - 1 1/2
Cat. B
Children of maximum age 13 years old - duration max. 6 minutes - Difficulty 2 
Cat. C
Children of maximum age 16 years old -duration max. 7 minutes - Difficulty 3
Cat. D
Children of maximum age 18 years old - duration max. 10 minutes - Difficulty 4

The difficulty grades are referring to the ones indicated on the catalogues of the publishing houses italian and foreign.

Art. 3
The composers could participate to the competition even with more than one work. The works should be unpublished and unperformed and should be sent to the Secretary of the Competition in the following way:
a) The scores must be submitted in five copies; they must not have any recognisable abbreviation or mark which could reveal the name of the composer
b) Every copy of the score must be marked in a clear and visible manner with a "MOTTO" and must give the Instrument, the Category and Duration of the work. 
c) Enclosed with the Composition must be a sealed envelope marked on the outside with a "MOTTO" (the same MOTTO given on the aforesaid score); inside the envelope must be indicated: 
1. the title and the category of the composition;
2. name, and personal data of the author; 
3. the entering form completely filled;
4. a signed declaration that the composition is unpublished;
5. a short curriculum vitae
The packet must be send, not later than the 26th of May 2001, to the following address:

Art. 4
The scores will be analyzed by an international jury of renowned members, whose decisions shall be final. The names of the winner or mentioned compositions will be declared no later than the 15th June 2001. The awards must be collected by the winners during the awards ceremony that will take place in the evening of the 24th June at 20.00 together whit the awards for the V International Competition for Young Instrumentalist in Povoletto, at the local gymnasium.

Art.5
Awards: there will be two awards for each category for a total amount of 6.000.000-
1° award 1.000.000
2° award 500.000

Art. 6
The members of the jury will reserve the right not to award prizes if it is decided to be in the best interest of the contest. In any case the decisions of the jury will be final.

Art.7
The winner and mentioned works will become part of the list of pieces for the International Competition for Young Instrumentalist on the year 2001.

Art.8
The participation at the Competition implies the unconditional acceptance of this announcement. In the event of disputes, the text in Italian shall be considered the official version.

Art.9
The copies of the compositions could be requested at the Secretary of the Competition. All the copies will be given back to the composer except one which will be kept as contest document and repertory.
