The ICM is a non-profit organisation
that intends:

to promote and co-ordinate co-operative activities for the
common development of Mediterranean countries, especially regarding the
university sector and advanced research;
-
to encourage the cultural Mediterranean co-operation collaborating
with Universities, public and private research bodies, national and international
organisations, governmental and non-governmental organisations and the
industrial sector; to improve the return of resources in each country,
to favour the acquisition of new means in national and international research;

to promote and carry out activities as scientific meetings,
congresses, workshops, master studies, stages, training courses and research
activities in the field of protecting the maritime environment, climatology,
town-planning and the coastal legislation;

to program, co-ordinate and carry out scientific and cultural
activities regarding the "Science of the Sea Environment", especially about
problems of the Mediterranean ecosystem;

to encourage and promote the above mentioned activities considering
the environmental, cultural, historical, institutional, administrative,
legislative and ethnic aspects. To create a co-operation among the counties
of the European Union and between EU and the Mediterranean counties;

to manage technical, administrative and informative services
for public and private bodies in the field of training and education;

to encourage and carry out the edition of didactic, scientific,
cultural and teaching materials.
The institute has its seat in Sassari (Sardinia, Italy). |
