ENTRANCE DOOR
The directions given by the D. lgs.
626/94 (art. 33 commas 1 and 2) are articulated and they refer to
different cases.
They indicates the number of the doors in the office, their
width, their features (non-panic, non-breakable, ecc.) and the
side of their opening.
As an example we can tell you some relevant indications:
- the doors must be kept clear of any kind of furniture and easily accessible;
- the doors opening to both sides must have at least a transparent side to see through;
- if the doors are completely transparent, they must have a sign opposite one's eyes;
- the emergency exits must be properly indicated (path to reach the exit);
- the emergency exits must open in the side of the exodus and they must have a non-panic handle;
- the emergency exits must not be locked.
The presence of proper doors and exits
is one of the fundamental elements of security in case of
emergency.
This element has not always been considered in less recent
buildings.
Anyway, you can only guess what could happen if tens of people
were obliged to leave urgently a building whose only way out is a
double glass door: the final result could be very dangerous and
troublesome and the exodus could be slowed down.
