BIOGRAPHY

Achille Guzzardella was born in Milan on 3 September, 1955.
Having graduated in Architecture at the Polytechnic University of the Lombard city (1979), he attended at the same time the evening course of sculpture at the Brera School of Artists (1979). In 1984 he got his Diploma attending the sculpture course at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
After his first personal exhibition in Milan, at the Valentini Gallery in 1983, and after joining a number of collective exhibitions, he started to create links with connections and friends, with personalities of the Italian art and culture; of some, in the Eighties and Nineties, he painted portraits (among others, of V. Bompiani, D. Fo, G. Dova, G. Brera, A. Sassu, L. Minguzzi, S. Fiume, C. Bo, E. Calindri, E. Treccani, U. Veronesi, U. Tognazzi, S. Ceccato, M. Zanuso, B. Munari, G. Migneco, D. Cantatore, I. Kodra, V. Viganò, S. Lanaro, R. De Grada, F. Bodini, G.A. Dell'Acqua, L.F. Capovilla, E. Manfrini, E. Tadini, R. Bossaglia, V. Buonassisi, D. Porzio, B. Cassinari, P. Gauli, H. Herrera, M. Carrà, P. Ponti, G. Paganin, Restany, E. Fabiani, P. Consagra, P. Marzotto, E. Mangiarotti, R. Brindisi, A. Foà, G. Barbiellini Amidei, G. Bosetti, P. Mazzarella, L. Barbiano di Belgiojoso).
From 1985 onwards he visited Europe's major Museums, the Tunis Museum of Bardo (1992) and in 1993 the Russian Museum, among which the Pushkin, to which he made a gift, the same year, of four graphic works. In addition, the following year 1994, two of his works became part of the Sacred Art Collection of the Pontifical Museum, while in 1995 some other graphic works of his were included in the Ermitage Museum of Saint Petersburg and again in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.
The year 1993 saw the unveiling of his first public monument in Grado, and a bust portraying Marco Marchesan was set up in Moscow, at the Hypmology and Preventive Prophylaxis Institute of the Ministry of Health.
His first Anthologica, Exhibition took place in 1996 at the Municipal Museum in Crema, where four of his works were set up.
In 1997 the Milan Municipality arranged for him a personal exhibition at the Archeological Museum.
Sacred Art works by Guzzardella can be seen in several Churches, among which in the Church of Saint Mary at Saint Satiro ("Crucifixion", which is set up in the Bramante Baptistry), in the Holy Cross Church and Sotto il Monte Church (Bg), and at the Camaitino Museum (the "Pagliotto" in the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre picturing Pope John XXIII and the Cross).
In 1997, a sculpture portraying "Robert Lawrence Balzer" was set up at the "Culinar Institute of America" in Napa Valley, California.
