Tour Programs In and around Addis Ababa There are many interesting places for tourists, both inside Addis Ababa and its environs. RVS 21 - ADDIS ABEBA - Duration: One day The National Museum, King Menelik's Mausoleum, Trinity Cathedral, Merkato (the largest market place in Africa) and the Entoto hills are places of interest RVS 22 - DEBREZEIT - Duration: One day 50 kilometers southeast from Addis Ababa, surrounded by crater lakes, Debrezeit is a fast growing ricreational town. Sites of visit include lakes Hora, Bisheftu, Babogaya and the local Africa art gallery . Mont Zuquala the Erer mountain stand majestically at few kilometers out of the town. There is also a crater lake on top of Mount Zuquala. RVS 23 - SODORE - Duration: One day Sodore is situated 126 kilometers south of the capital Addis Ababa. And' the source of thermal waters more appreciated and exploited. Awash river passes through its wooded quarters, and one can observe various species of fish. Velvet monkeys habitually join you at your tables and receive anything you pass to them. As they are nice creatures, you can further go to coudle them. Hippos can also be observed in the nearby boggy spots. Olympic size swimming pool and physiotherapy center are frequented by many visitors. RVS 24 - AMBO (Hagere Hiwot) - Duration: One day Ambo town is 125 kilometers west of Addis Ababa. It is the source of the poupular mineral water "Ambo". Its hot springs have been turned into modern spas. The Guders river fals can be reached in a few minutes drive. The Guder and Wontchi crater lakes are editional attractions located near Ambo Town. RVS 25 - MELKA KUNTURE - Duration: One day It's about 50 kilometers south of the capital, on the Hosaena - Sodo road. It's a scenic site on the bank of the Awash river. The locality is an archaeological site, where scientists had excavated fossils, stone tools and similar objects of the primitive man. These fossils are millions of years old. About 27 kilometers south of Melka Kunture, a XIII century Lalibela type rock-hewn Adadi Mariam church can be visited. Southwest of Adadi Mariam and 23 kilometers south of Melka, in the center of Tiya town you can see the most fabolous and stunning site of noless than 40 pre-historic stelae with inscriptions and arcane symbols. RVS 26 - DEBRE LIBANOS - Duration: One day 110 kilometers north of Addis Ababa, Debre Libanos is one of the most well known and popular XIII century monasteries in the country. Its monastic community receives thousand of people who travel to this holy place on pilgrimage. The monastery located on the hedge of the Jema river, as nunnery and a quarter where monks live in seclusion. The "Portuguese Bridge", a hump-backed stone bridge believed to have been reinforced with a sand and ostrich egg yolk mix is found on edge of the cliff near the church. Tchelada baboons species endemic to Ethiopia, are found in large numbers. RVS 27 - DEBRE BERHAN - Duration: One day Established by emperor Zerayacob in the XV century as is capital Debre Berhan is situated 130 kilometers north-east od Addis Ababa. It has a cold and healthy climate. Its famous for its whole processing factory. Ankober, 35 kilometers southeast of Debre Berhan was the capital of the Shoan monarchy before the founding of Debre Berhan. It was the seat of the Shoan kingdom during the regn of king Sahile Selassie, Menelik's grandfather. There are many ruins and still standings colossal hold church in Ankober.
RIFT VALLEY LAKES / RESORT
The Rift Valley runs from the Red Sea down to Mozambique. In Ethiopia it streches from the Dankalia depression in the north to the Etio-Kenyan border. The southern part of the Ethiopian Rift Valley is dotted with a series of small lakes which have many enticing physical features such as great lowland plains and sparsely wooded semi-desert localities. You will be sure to observe hundreds of cattle, goats and myriad of birds of different species. The region has excellent resort area and hotels. The following itinerary can serve to visit thes fascinating and oft-visited part of Ethiopia.
