The activated vessel or Vicarious flow
Mandolesi in 1992 defined the vicarious flow, which is a
derived flow linked with the increase of functional or organic resistances in the one direction draining circulation, caused or spontaneous, with open shunt.
It can be classified into
- Continuous vicarious flow
- Ortosthatic and/or orthodynamic
As to the phase, vicarious flow can be classified into:
- Systolic
- Diastolic
- Systolic and diastolic
