FAULT LOCATORS FOR CABLE MANUFACTURERS

A694
A694 long range short circuits locator
This instrument  has been designed to measure the distance to resistive faults in any type of metallic cable.
It works on the principle of measuring the resistance of the two sections of the faulty conductor ratiometrically using a "Kelvin" configuration of four wires, thereby eliminating errors caused by test lead resistance.
The A694  has the unique capability to show if there is more than one fault in the cable and to locate* them.
This instrument is capable of locating faults with an insulation resistance up to 5 Mohms in cables with a loop resistance from 0.5 ohms up to 40 kohms.
The fault distance is displayed as a percentage of the total cable length on a large LCD display.

Note that for proper operation both ends of the faulty conductor must be accessible.

* Contact AGM  if you have questions regarding this capability.

A994
A994 long range interruptions locator
The A994 provides the capability of  locating capacitive faults accurately and quickly with the minimum of operator training;   it works on the principle of measuring the capacitance of the two sections of the faulty conductor ratiometrically.
The advantage of this method is that the measurement error is due only to the dimensional not-homogeneity of the cable.
The A994  has the unique capability to locate*  fault in reels with no good conductors or even with only one wire.
This instrument is capable of  locating faults in cables with a total capacitance of  2 nF up to 5 MF.
The fault distance is displayed as a percentage of the total cable length on a large LCD display.

Note that for proper operation both ends of the faulty conductor must be accessible.

A999
A799 multi-function fault locator
The A799 is AGM Elettronica's most advanced fault locator.
It can carry out a wide range of routine tests on both telephone and control cables.
Tests performed include measurement of cable length,  resistance, capacitance, unbalanced resistance and unbalanced capacitance of  pairs.
The fault locator performs  ratiometric measurements of resistance ( for locating shorts) and capacitance (for locating opens ) of the two sections of the faulty conductor.
The A799 has the unique capability  to show if  there are more contacts on the faulty conductor and  it is capable to locate* opens in reels with no good conductors or even with only one wire.
Testing is simply and easily carried out: an auto-test function automatically sequences through a series of cable measurements, distance to fault is then computed and displayed in meters or feet on a large back-light LCD display screen.

AB95
Resistive unbalance meter AB95
The AB95 is a resistive unbalance meter designed to carry out measures in accordance with the formula:

100,00 x (Ra - Rb)/(Ra + Rb)

This instrument has been designed to measure the resistive unbalance in any type of metallic cable.
It works on the principle of measuring the resistance of the two wires (A and B) ratiometrically using a "Kelvin" configuration of four wires, thereby eliminating errors caused by test lead resistance.

Use the following procedure to perform a measure:

1) Connect the clip "COM" to the wires A and B at the far end of the cable
2) Connect the Kelvin clip "A" to the wire A at the near end of the cable
3) Connect the Kelvin clip "B" to the wire B at the near end of the cable
4) Press the button "MEASURE".
