History of Paderno Dugnano

The name Paderno Dugnano

The present land of our town is divided into five indipendent parts after the unification of Italy: Paderno, Dugnano, Palazzolo Milanese, Incirano and Cassina Amata. Paderno took the name of Paderno Milanese in 1862 and the other four parts were included in 1869. Palazzolo didn't accept Paderno as country town, so sent a complaint to the Minister of the Interior to separate itself from the aggregation.
But this complaint wasn't accepted because there weren't enough, inhabitants to create an idipendent town. A lot of problems rose in the town council in the next years to choose the new name for the unified town. After a lot of suggestions a Regio Decreto of the 1 st February 1886 established the present denomination: Paderno Dugnano.

AFTER THE END OF THE MIDDLE AGE
  • Paderno's House of Commons becomes one of the land of Desio under the dukedom of Milan.
  • Economy is based on the breeding of the silkwarm and on the production of cereals.
1576-1577
  • The popolation of Paderno is rising of about 2000 inhabitants, in spite of the plague.
1683
  • The land of Desio is divided in many parts
FROM THE II HALF TO THE END OF THE '800
  • Born of the textile industry and developement of the mechanic and metallurgical industries.
  • The organization of the industries and their buildings are the reason why the land is been transformed.
  • Development of rail and road comunications.
  • The value of the lands doesn't depend on the capability of the production anymore, but on their position.
1867
  • A law invites little towns to unite.
1886
  • The unification of this towns is called Paderno Dugnano.

today Paderno Dugnano can be divided into three parts:

  • one for the industrial use (between the axis of the comasina and the rail axis).
  • one for the residential use (along the rail axis and the comasina).
  • one for the commercial use (along the Milano Meda motorway).

Eonomy

After the second World War, there was an important building development of Paderno Dugnano, above all on the right and left banks of Seveso. The reason why the countries were left by the peasants is the industrial work in the city. So many phenomena happen like commutig and peasant's movement who became entrepeneur and office workers.
