INTERVIEW TO THE COUNCILLOR

On the 13th October 98 Tania and Jlenia went to the Councill to interview Mr. Damiano Ricci, Councillor of Paderno Dugnano. Here we are going to show the most important elements of the interview.
What do you think about local traffic?
Paderno Dugnano has the same traffic as the hinterland Milan. It has reached worring levels; in fact there are 78600 cars moving. The territory of Paderno hasn't been dimensioned and there weren't conditions to carry the demographic increase, which caused traffic increase. The trains of F.N.M. and the buses in Paderno must be developed. In fact the F.N.M. are good links from Paderno to Milan, but they cause long queues because there are a lot of runs. The public transport is linked at first to the school transport. We have thought to increase the payment controls to have more runs.
From researches, the dioxide of nitrogen has topped the fixed limit 8 times. What do you think about it?
The reason why the dioxide of nitrogen topped the fixed limit 8 times is traffic and industrial processes and pollution determined by heating. The possible solutions to decrease are a bigger safety and energy conservation. Instead one of the best solution to decrease the carbon monoxide is the closing of traffic in the town. But as this would bring the productive activities to a stop, both the distict and the traders oppose themselves in it.
How can the school help to solve this problem?
Schools are the principal means to educate new generations. It is difficult to speak to adults. They believe, they already have the right solutions to these problems, because they don't want to be directly envolved. The young are more open and flexible.
