| Many painters express grief, joy,
the thoughts of whole world in their art; others look for
a new expressive style, a new "ism" in their
painting; Achille Repossi expresses just himself, his
complex, yet well defined, personality and he does this
with great sensitiveness, almost intuitive of feelings
and past, present and future events. That's why in his painting we can find objects and subjects of high symbolic content, which are often intentionally mixed up with the collage technique, to underline the complementarity and also the impossibility of melting one another. The works of Achille Repossi require great attention, they need our time to make us understand their importance and their worth. We must look at them carefully, more than once, so that we can appreciate the feeling which every work of art should communicate, the feeling which is different according to different people, the feeling which satisfies some and tortures others. Achille Repossi was born in Milan in 1946, He attended the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, His first exhibition in 1965 was held in Milan; since then many others have been held in various towns: New York, Lublijana, San Paolo Brazil, Casablanca, Barcelona, Milan (Palazzo Reale), Matera, Potenza, Cremona, Varese, Pisa Erice, Cortina, Salsomaggiore, La Spezia, Livorno, Pescara, Ancona, Firenze, Urbino, Verona. He has won many awards for engraving and painting. In 1987 he tood part in the XXX Biennale Nazionale d'Arte in Milano. We can find his works in the Museum of Lima (Perù), Museo di Cupra Montana and Museo di Belvedere Ostrense (Italy). He has also illustrated books of poems and fiction. He lives and works in Milan (Italy). |
