Informations for rock climbing courses

PERSONAL INTENSIVE ROCK CLIMBING COURSE
With max. 2 participants you can benefit from the didactic capacity of our mountain guide who can look back upon 20 years of teaching climbing in our Alpine School of Arco. It is possible to choose the dates, the number of climbing days as well as the venues, difficulty degrees and didactical preferences. One mountain guide with two guests is an ideal group for a multi-pitch route up to 400 m with ca. 12 pitches.

Rock climbing course for beginners, a short explanation:
The climbing courses will take place in one of the many climbing areas around Arco. On natural vertical rock walls (equipped with SPIT) the participants are learning to climb by using the "top-rope" system on single pitch routes. It permits the climber to "fall" in any moment and all that can happen is, that the climber remains "hanging" on the rope - a rope which has a capacity of up to 2.000 kg - this is a maximum of security. One day of climbing has a duration of approx. 4 to 5 hours. A licensed Mountain Guide will teach knot- , belaying- and climbing techniques which are the base of every type of mountain activity such as "Vie ferrate" (iron/ladder paths) or even ice climbing. We prefer to perform our courses with a small number of participants in order to provide a maximum of service and success for each beginning climber. Thus the Mountain Guide can concentrate on each participant individually, he can evaluate and correct possible mistakes and contribute to make a large progress in climbing. You may ask our Guide for advice regarding any type of alpine activity.

Advanced rock climber' s course
The goal of most participants in "advanced courses" is to go climbing independently and to "lead" In the beginning of the course we still climb top-rope on difficult routes trying to reach the limit our your climbing capacity with the objective to attain a higher climbing degree, to correct possible mistakes and to refine your climbing technique. Next step in the course is advanced rope and climbing techniques for climbers who are "leading". The success of the course depends of course on the participants' prior experience and a small number of participants; upon request it is also possible to do multi-pitch routes.

Information and reservation  for rock climbing courses
Any type of requests as well as reservations should be made at least 20 days by e-mal (guide@alpinguide.com) prior to the start of the course with our Alpine School of Arco. You should indicate the number of participants, possible prior mountaineering experience as well as any information necessary to guarantee a successful and efficient course.

Rock climbing gear
All the material which is necessary for climbing will be made available free of charge by our Mountain Guides (this includes as well climbing shoes, harness, helmet). This service is included in our prices. If you need help choosing the suitable equipment, the Guides may give you some good piece of advice.

What happens, if it rains in Arco Lake Garda Italy ???
Sometimes it even rains in Italy ...! It goes without saying that the "lost" climbing days due to rain, will either be made up for or will be partly deducted from the total price.

Insurance
Each Guide of Alpine climbing School Arco are government licensed Mountain Guides with an international diploma and are officially registered with the regional and international Mountain Guide's Association. With no exception, all of them have a third party indemnity insurance towards their clients.

The rock climbing spots in Arco Lake Garda Dolomites Italy
Year after year the Northern area of the Lake Garda (Arco) is presenting itself as the rock climber' s capital. Responsible for this success are the facts that the area is offering walls of up to 1.200 m altitude as well as rocks and boulders suitable for rock climbing. The limestone' s structures allow to perform safely and elegantly all kinds of climbing techniques. The mediterranean climate, mild in winter and refreshing in summer, permits each kind of climbing almost throughout the whole year.
The participation in a climbing course is independent of age and does not require special physical conditions. If you love outdoor activities and, if you are anxious to discover something "new", this is the right course for you. Climbing may be considered as one of the most comprehensive types of sport as you do not only need almost all of your body fibers but also your brain.

Rock climbing course on Kalymnos Island (Greece)

When God created the Earth, at the end of his hard work, he remained with only some stones in this hands. As he was tired, God threw the stones into the Sea and in this way Kalymnos was born. Now the Greek inhabitants of the Island are claiming that God had created Kalymnos for the climbers: it is really a scrambling paradise for everybody. From beginners to experts: everyone finds his suitable routes. Here is the ideal place for our instruction, guiding, personal tuition and courses: everywhere there are easy routes on multicolor rocks, turquoise sea, blue sky, warm sun. The history of climbing on Kalymnos is very recent. Only in 1996, an Italian climbers couple has discovered Kalymnos as a climbers' paradise. Kalymnos offers a great number and variety of lime stone rocks with different kinds of difficulty degrees (overhangs, caves with stalactites, slabs...). At the moment there are about 45 crags with more than 850 single pitch routes. There are also some multi-pitch routes available. During our last courses on Kalymnos Island, we have visited some sectors which have been just recently opened. In particular, we have climbed in those areas where there are almost only easy routes from 4a to 6a, also suitable for beginners. We have been climbing in recently opened sectors on fantastic and still "stinging" rocks with routes that sometimes exceed 30 meters. Wherever you are, you can enjoy the panorama, uncontanated nature and the blue sea typical for Kalymnos. We recommend to wear long, technical climbing trousers both to avoid the pungent shrubs and to protect the knees during climbing. On the new, easy and sharp slabs of Kalymnos, falling while leading is absolutely to be avoided. THE OFFER OF ALPINE SCHOOL ARCO INCLUDES A: 5-DAY-CLIMBING COURSE with an internationally licensed MOUNTAIN GUIDE (language: English, German, Italian), rent of the general technical material such as rope, quickdraws, carabiners.
