Always talking to myself . . .
by Greg Danielak
The solo in "Omegaman" has to be one of Andy Summers' most powerful statements. The wooshing flanger, the distortion, and the note placement make this such a unique solo that is truly individual.
The main thing that makes this solo sound unique is that being minor-based, it is played against a Bbmaj9 which makes it sound "independent." Two different feels are played against eachother. Andy outlines minor arpeggios and slides all over the place, while the flanger is sailing away in the background. These things give the solo it's characteristic of confusion and "flying."
