The Province of VARESE is located in the North/West of the Lombardia Region, the widest and most populated Region in North Italy and well known in the world for its Regional Capital, MILAN.

Beginning just West of the province of Milan, the province of Varese shares borders with the Piemonte Region on its West and South West, with Switzerland on its North and with the Province of Como on its North/East. It includes several small beautiful lakes, while also bordering Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano(CH).

Apart from the Provincial Capital, Varese, world famous for its public gardens and Hippodrome, there are several medium and small size Cities and Towns in this Province, all densely populated and with thousand years of history, like Gallarate, Busto Arsizio, Castellanza, Cassano Magnago, Castiglione Olona, Tradate, Angera and Olgiate Olona.

Today, the province of Varese has a deep industrial and commercial background. The south of the Province, close to Gallarate, now hosts the new Milan International Airport, Malpensa 2000. This is the number two airport in Italy and, at present, number six in Europe but developing at a fantastic rate.

 

 

The first Archery Club in the Province of Varese was founded at the end of 1972 in Gallarate, with the name of Compagnia Arcieri Monica. It was Club number 23 to join FITARCO. Its name changed to the current one SPORT ARCO E FRECCE C.A.M. in 1987. 
It is the club of Michele Frangilli, one of the top recurve archers in the World.

The province now hosts 11 different Archery Clubs, creating one of the areas most populated by archers in Italy, and hosts several Regional, National and International Archery competitions every year.
