YSHAI KALMANOVITCH is an historical-performer on the viola and the viola d`amore, currently residing in Basel, Switzerland. In 1996 he graduated the Israeli music academy in Tel Aviv (cum lauda),as a modern viola student of Prof. Yuri Gendelsman and soon after that started playing also the historical viola, practicing the art of historical performance as a player in the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra.He also took some lessons with historical performers such as Mrs. Lucy Van-Dael, Mr. Walter Reiter, and others.
In 1999 he became a regular student of Mrs. Dorothea Jappe in Basel. He has also taken part in orchestral projects of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. After studying historical Viola playing with Mrs. Jappe,he also started studying with her historical playing on the viola d`amore, and has done so since 2000.
He has played with the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra since 1996, both as a leading viola player and as a soloist and in chamber concerts. He has also performed with other chamber ensembles for historical performance.

LAURA SANTANCHÉ si è diplomata nel 1988 in Flauto traverso al Conservatorio di Roma 'S. Cecilia' sotto la guida di P. Deflorian, e nel '98 in flauto traversiere al Conservatorio di Verona 'F. dall'Abaco', sotto la guida di M. Castellani. Ha seguito diversi corsi di musica antica, tra cui quelli tenuti da Kate Clark a Basilea e a Zell And der Pram (A), e quelli della XXV Estate Frentana a Lanciano (Ch). Attualmente segue un corso di musica da camera su strumenti antichi con Laura Alvini, presso l'Accademia Internazionale della Musica di Milano.
Svolge una costante attività concertistica suonando in diversi ensemble di strumenti antichi. Fra le rassegne musicali per le quali ha suonato, "Musica e Poesia a S.Maurizio" , "Notturni nei Musei" , "Musica nei Cortili" a Milano, "Stagione di musica antica di Novara- Fondazione "Amici della Cattedrale"", "11° Festival di Musica antica di S.Lussurgiu" "Accademia di Spagna a Roma"," Festival di musica antica del comune di Mentana di Roma", "Associazione Musica Antica" di Campobasso.
DONATELLA GALLETTI ha compiuto gli studi chitarristici parallelamente agli studi classici, sotto la guida di Aldo Minella. Si è diplomata al Conservatorio " G.Verdi" di Milano in chitarra classica, ed in seguito ha studiato liuto presso lo stesso Conservatorio, con Paolo Cherici, conseguendo il diploma.
Pur suonando chitarra barocca, liuto rinascimentale, tiorba ,arciliuto, si è specializzata sul liuto barocco, strumento che le è molto caro e sul quale preferibilmente suona il basso continuo.
Scarsamente conosciuto in questo senso, il liuto barocco è molto adatto al continuo con il flauto traversiere, soprattutto nel repertorio di musica da camera tedesca (come consigliato da Weiss) e francese del '700.
Si è dedicata, con il gruppo "Affetti sonori", che ha fondato, alla riscoperta di musiche scritte con liuto barocco obbligato, violino o flauto ed altri strumenti (J 0703730 AFFETTI SONORI TURTLE DG 01)

Tra gli insegnanti ama menzionare Oscar Ghiglia, Jakob Lindberg e Michael Freimuth per l'arricchimento musicale e tecnico che le hanno dato. E' laureata in lingue e Letterature Straniere, ed ha collaborato con il British Council partecipando ad un ciclo di conferenze sulla musica inglese ed i songs di J.Dowland.
Affetti sonori (Donatella Galletti Baroque lute, Laura Santanchè traversiere, Maurizio Salmoiraghi viol) is a group, whose members have a long practice in playing Renaissance and Baroque music. Laura Santanchè studied in Rome, then in Verona, with Castellani, and also with Kate Clark. Maurizio Salmoiraghi studied with Paolo Pandolfo,and has taken part in many recordings. Donatella Galletti studied first the guitar with Aldo Minella , then the lute, with Paolo Cherici, getting the two Diplomas at Conservatorio " G.Verdi "of Milan. She also followed courses with Jakob Lindberg, and has taken part in recordings.
The aim of this group is to explore a repertoire not played yet, looking for manuscripts requiring this particular ensemble, and to give music the dimension it probably had at the time it was written, paying a particular attention to the sound and the way of playing, which should remind of very different Affetti .

Three possible programs
Program 1 (baroque lute )
This program is a short summary of French and German music for the Baroque lute.
In the first part three major French lutenists of the XVII Century are introduced, and a Chaconne by each of them has been chosen to compare diferent styles. A mourning ("Tombeau") written for them follows, echoing their style. The author is Robert De Visèe, who played at Court for Luis XIV. The second part has music written by Weiss, one of the most important "virtuoso" of his times, a contemporary of Bach . It is also possible to insert music by Kellner, a lutenist- organist who lived in Tallin and in Germany.
Program 2 (Baroque lute, flute, gamba: music by Baron, Pichler and others)
This program presents music written for "liuto obbligato" and baroque flute., often with a gamba base, that’s to say that the lute part is entirely written and the lute is playing in duet with the flute, not just accompanying. This music is very rare to listen and, as far as I know, has never been recorded.
Weiss is played by the lute alone and Abel is a sonata for gamba with the base played by the lute.
Program 3 (Baroque lute, flute, gamba- French Music)
It presents French music either for the lute alone (Mouton and De Visèe in the second part) or for the baroque flute or gamba and "basso continuo". The ensemble with baroque lute and gamba, without harpsichord, is very suitable to let the sound of the flute be heard in its beauty, and is fascinating as a result.
