Roberta
Invernizzi, soprano
Born in Milan in 1966 she studied piano and doublebass before turning to singing. She studied with Margaret Heyword in Milan and in England specialized in baroque singing with
Emma
Kirkby. She is now one of Italys most sought after sopranos, a
specialist in 16th, 17th and 18th century
music, and works with directors and ensembles such as Ton
Koopman, Gustav Leonhardt, Jordy Savall, Anner Bylsma, Christophe Coin, Alan
Curtis, Andrew Parrot, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, New York Collegium, Orchestra Baroque de
Limoges, Archibudelli, La Cappella della Pietà dei Turchini, Hesperion XX,
Sonatori De La Gioiosa Marca and Il Giardino Armonico.
She
has made over 50 recordings, for Virgin-EMI, Opus 111, Symphonia and
Stradivarius, and has performed concerts and operas thoughout Europe and the
United States, including Rome, Milan, Vienna, Prague, London, Paris, Madrid,
Berlin, Prague, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
In
January 1998 she was invited by Gustav Leonhardt to sing in the inaugural
concert of the New York Collegium.
Since
1997 she has taught baroque singing at the Centro di Musica Antica Pietà dei
Turchini in Naples, where she now lives.
