This house is
only 12 km from the centre of Turin in the middle of the countryside with fields and
vineyards scattered with old farmhouses and flocks of sheep which yield an excellent local
cheese. On the border of the regional park of Superga, the house is in a green belt where
no new houses have been built as long as anyone can remember.
The windows of the house look over the Chieri plain with the Alps in the distance. At 550
m above sea level, climatic conditions are considered perfect – delicate children
were always sent to mountain resorts at "seicento metri", this being not too
high as regards oxygen, not too low for pollution, a height that plants and trees seem to
flourish at as well.
The small hamlet of twenty families is made up in part of local people who work the land,
while the rest have abandoned the city for the countryside restoring some of the old
houses.
This house dates back to the end of the last century and your hosts have restored their
home with respect for its past and local traditions. Only local stone has been used in the
reconstruction, while the household linen is in the same style, only hand-woven linens and
pure cotton. Breakfast and dinner rely heavily on the produce from the vegetable garden
and the orchard, whether it is jams, fruit juices, or pickled conserves. Your hostess is
adept at menus featuring local specialities or vegetarian cuisine. In the warmer months
both breakfast and dinner can be served in the garden. At an ideal distance from Turin to
visit the capital of Piedmont, the house is also near enough to the Superga park for
outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy walking and trekking and observing nature.
Rooms: a double room with bath and two other rooms, one double, one
single, sharing a bathroom. All the rooms are independent of each other with separate
entrances.
Options: English, French and German are spoken. Parking in the garden.
Pets are welcome. Dinner can be served on request. A laundry service is available. Tennis
courts and swimming pool at only 1 km from the house.
Where: the nearest airport is Turin at 18 km. while the Turin railway
station is 12 km. away.
