| Carolingian slave Nicola Moretto on the beach of Nebel (Tunisi) on the 15th November in 1800. The black Madonna is celebrated with a solemn procession along the streets, that for the occasion are richly decorated. The procession is followed by all the religious associations, by the authorities and by the crowd. It is doubtless the most deeply felt celebration for the community whose love and devotion for their fathers reconquered freedom is here shown. On 3rd September a penitential procession is held in silent entreaty and with the Madonna deprived of all her riches.
It's a moment of reflection in memory of the date when the period of slavery began.
