One of my best trips has been to Belgium. Partly it was due
to the fact that the tour was made with some of my best friends, partly because our trip
was planned in such a way that we could reach all the Trappist Abbeys were you can still
find some of the oldest breweries in Europe, but it was also because we travelled with our
old VW van that we called 'Dock' (as in "Sitting on the dock of the bay" by Otis
Reding).
Here are some pictures of our tour.
After some 1.500 Km (c.a. 1.000 mi) we
reached the far northest point in our trip: Oostende.Believe
it or not, I am the guy with moustaches. . .
don't you think I am just
like Tom Sellek in 'Magnum PI' ? |

Brugge, one of my favourites towns
in Belgium.
True it is somewhat too touristically exploited, but try its
tipical beer:
La Biere Blanche de Brugge.
Every difficulty will come to an end!

In the Town of Namur we
found this hidillic
atmosphere, where you
could imagine
to be still in the '40s,
or in 1840s for what that
matters.

Brugge's Beginhof.
This is a place where
once lived old nuns
called Begin.
Also in Italy a 'beghina'
is said of a woman
who always prays. It comes actually from here! Bel 3 |

Here is our Dock! It was very old and also very slow, it
is almost a miracle it
could ride us throug the Alps for such a trip! |
