Professional Experiences
As well as it happens for many other Folk Groups performing on the Italian scene, our Band's aim is to repropose the vast and precious heritage represented by the traditional Music and Dances of central-southern Italy.
Music and Dances which are still alive and are currently lived and performed by the rural population residing in central-southern Italy during the holidays, courtship and in many other occasions. Thus, we propose living Music and Dance, not a museal repertoire for ethnomusicological experts; Living music which, by constantly renewing itself, conquers and fascinates even the new generations.We do believe that it is not a case that the age of "Ciucciuettola" Band's components ranges from 26 to 50 years, including all the intermediate ages: because of this, the musical experience starting from the 1970's (golden age of the Italian folk-revival) till our days comes together in it. As well as it is probably not a case, but an implicit consequence, the fact that this Band doesn't wish to characterize itself only to come up again with Folk Music and Coreaography but, in some instances, intends to revise this enormous heritage or even re-create themes and figures inspired by the tradition.
The musicians group does employ voices, plectrums, chord and bellows instruments as well as several kinds of percussions. The reper
toire includes musics which are danced by the Corps de Ballet like Saltarelli, Tammurriate and Tarantelle as well as instrumental pieces to be listen ed only, like Villanelle, Serenate (Serenades), Stornelli and original pieces composed using metrics, rhythms and melodies following the traditional ones.
The Corps de Ballet is made up of people who have had several show experiences as well as the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about the Italian Folk Dances by observing them in person ins their proper settings. All these experiences have ended up as constructive elements of their performance.
The Band can also organize informational meetings on dance, music and Folk instruments.
