Maurizio BARBORO
Si è formato artisticamente sotto la
guida di Lya De Barberiis, presso l’Accademia Nazionale di Santa
Cecilia in Roma. Vincitore di Concorsi pianistici nazionali ha intrapreso,
dal 1980, un’intensa carriera concertistica che lo ha visto
collaborare con famosi Direttori e Orchestre prestigiose in tutta
Europa, in Asia e in America del Nord. Nel 1996 è stato nominato
“artist in residence” della Filarmonica di Stato “Dumitrescu”
di Valcea (Romania). Nel 1999 ha debuttato negli Stati Uniti dove
viene periodicamente invitato anche per tenere “master class”
presso Istituzioni come il Boston Conservatory, la Longy School of
Music, la Rivers School. Nell’ottobre 2000 ha inaugurato la
stagione sinfonica della Berkshire Symphony Orchestra (Massachusetts)
con il Secondo Concerto di Rachmaninoff. Nell’Aprile 2001 ha
eseguito il Secondo Concerto di Shostakovich, accompagnato dalla prestigiosa
Filarmonica “Enescu” presso la Sala Ateneu di Bucarest.
Si dedica intensamente alla musica cameristica come componente del
Nuovo Quartetto Pianistico Italiano e collaborando stabilmente con
il violoncellista Dario Destefano. E’ titolare della cattedra
di Pianoforte Principale presso il Conservatorio Statale “Ghedini”
di Cuneo e docente di Corsi di Perfezionamento presso prestigiose
Istituzioni internazionali quali la Facoltà di Musica dell’Università
di Timisoara e il Liceo d’Arte di Valcea(Romania), il Conservatorio
Regionale di Vendome(Francia), la Royal School of Music(Gibilterra),
l’Accademia Nazionale di Astana(Kazahstan). Componente di Giuria
di prestigiosi Concorsi pianistici, è Direttore Artistico del
Concorso Internazionale “Franz Schubert”, dell’Associazione
Musicale “Alfredo Casella” e Presidente del Concorso Internazionale
“Città di Racconigi”. Ha registrato l’integrale
dei Concerti per Pianoforte e Orchestra di Shostakovich, le Sonate
di Brahms, Shostakovich e Kabalevsky per violoncello e pianoforte,
le composizioni originali per due pianoforti a otto mani.

Maurizio Barboro began his studies at the Conservatoire
“Paganini” in Genoa and obtained his Diploma with full
marks. Later he completed his artistical education at the Accademia
Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, under the guidance of Lya De Barberiis.
Winner of Italian piano competitions, since 1980 he has combined an
intense career in Italy as well as in the major cultural centres in
Europe, Asia and North America, collaborating with famous conductors
and prestigious orchestras. Since 1996 Barboro has been currently
“artist in residence” and “permanent soloist”
of the “Dumitrescu” Philharmonic Orchestra of Valcea (Romania).
In 1999 he made his debut in the United States, where now he is periodically
invited to hold master classes at institutions such as the Boston
Conservatory, the Longy School of Music and the Rivers School. In
October 2000 he inaugurated the symphonic season of the Berkshire
Symphony Orchestra (Massachusetts) with Rachmaninoff’s Second
Concert. In April 2001 he played Shostakovich’s Second Concert,
accompanied by the prestigious “Enescu” Philharmonic Orchestra
at the Bucharest Ateneu Hall. Barboro also performs in various distinguished
chamber music ensembles like “Nuovo Quartetto Pianistico Italiano”
(two pianos, eight hands), with the violinist Aiman Musakhodzhaeva
and with the cellist Dario Destefano.
He has undertaken several recordings of works by Italian composers
for reputed National TV and Radio networks in both Western and Eastern
Europe; other notable CD recordings include the complete works for
two pianos, eight hands, the works of the Italian contemporary composer
Mario Panatero, the complete collection of Shostakovich’s Piano
Concertos (with the Belarus National Philharmonic Orchestra), the
Brahms Sonatas for Piano and Cello.
Maurizio Barboro is the holder of the Chair of Piano at the “Ghedini”
Conservatory in Cuneo and at the International Summer Courses in Bergolo
and Arpino. He is a member of the jury of several prestigious international
contests, Art Director of the “Franz Schubert” International
Competition and of the “Alfredo Casella” Music Association,
and President of the “Città di Racconigi” Contest.
