Paolo de Sanctis was born in Milano. Graduate in civil engineering, Politecnico di Milano 1956 , he carries out his profession in the field of residential building in his city.
For thirty years ha has been collecting corkscrews and other types of tools, from scissors to pine-nutcrackers, and he has carried out research in Italy and abroad on these particular objects of daily use, and on collecting in general.
Numerous articles about hia collection have appeared in Italian and foreign newspapers and magazines.
He is a founder member of I.C.C.A. (International Correspondence of Corkscrew Addicts), begun in London in 1974.
He is tha author of the first Italian book about corkscrews I Cavatappi, published by BE-MA Editrice of Milano in 1988. He has been chairman of A.I.C.C. (Associazione Italiana Collezionisti Cavatappi) since 1988.
The Italian television network and the Japanese TV ASAHI have shown programmes about his very particular passion for collecting corkscrews.
