Introduction

"Cruising with YCDTOSA" is an attempt to gather what the world, the Internet and affz has been saying about YCDTOSA. Presumed errors in the liner notes, comments, notes on hidden edits etc.

You may be surprised to find that these pages are still so low-tech and out of web fashion! That's why in some circumstances (here is one!) I do prefer printable, easy to carry information to those web documents split in a lot of html pages.

Version 5.0 (May 2003) arrives after almost four years from the previous one. In this long period YCDTOSA addicted everywhere have corrected a lot more date information but discovered few new significant hidden episodes. The only really notable one is related to the Volume 2 version of "Approximate" (the Eeva's wedding story) and it is described in a very good Finnish article published in 2001. Thanks to this article we now have a lot more information on what really happened in Helsinki on September 1973. I think it is now clear that Volume 2 does not came from just one concert. And if you consider what can be heard in Montana (that is a new one also, see the document), we should be practically sure.

And speaking of Volume 2, it is really interesting to read what Mark Pinske told Chris Michie in a 2003 interview published by MIX.

Also, in January 2003 Michie wrote a very interesting article in which the work of FZ is analysed from the sound engineer point of view. In this article he quote Bob Stone on mixing YCDTOSA and I included this relevant quote in the Foreword (new section) together with the complete excerpt of the William Rulhmann interview published by Goldmine in 1989, one of the few in which we can read a quite long and annotated description of the project.

In Version 5.0 I have corrected a lot of date information (mainly thanks to the "FZ Lyrics" web site), but the most meaningful additions are the above mentioned ones.
