"NOSTALGIA FOR NAPLES"

This project, which is a tribute to Neapolitan traditional songs, wants to present an important and nationalistic repertoire in a way different to that that we are all used to.

To "save" the late XIX century Neapolitan repertoire (which is the traditional link between opera and contemporary Italian music) from the current misinterpretations was the motor of the stylish and innovative research work that the Association has produced, always with an eye to the historical canons of Neapolitan song.

Half way between the traditional XIX century songs and the modern popular songs, the Neapolitan songs has amongst its most important composers Cottrau, Di Capua, De Curtis, Denza, Tagliaferri, Nardella and Califano Di Giacomo, Bovuio, Russo amongst the writers.

Our re-reading of these songs, composed for solo vocalist with a simple harmonic accompaniment (guitar, mandolin, pianoforte), maintains unaltered the vocal part, while enriching the instrumental part thanks to the uniqueness of the composition of the orchestra.
