"...REMEMBERING"

Tribute to Astor Piazzolla 1921 – 1992

Astor Piazzolla, as many great artists, was universally appreciated and recognised only after his death. Unique, innovative, original and eccentric he was able to transport Tango, with a true revolution, from the "Tangherie" to refined concert halls.

Piazzolla’s music and he himself liked to define it is "...90% contemporary music and 10% tango". Piazzolla’s music is also a mirror that reflects the big and multicoloured metropolis of Buenos Aires. Immediate is the comparison with Gershwin, the only great American composer that managed to bring back to life, through his art, all the contradictions of the "Big Apple". No composer of the XX century is prone to be orchestrated for diverse orchestras than Astor Piazzolla.

Our proposal can be enriched with the presence of dancing, which is the essence of Tango itself. The Ensemble has collaborated for many years with the MDA Produzioni Danza run by Claudia Zaccari, Prima ballerina at the Teatro all’Opera in Rome and with her ballet. The show, which has already been performed many times, is based on the choreographies of the great Argentinean Choreographer Silvia Wladiminsky.
