"FROM ALICE'S WONDERLAND TO PETER'S ISLAND"

The underlying idea in this proposal of music from Disney films is to treat a traditionally classical formation, such as the wind ensemble, as a small ("chamber") big band.

The use of a vocal solist as well as a piano (with its indispensable rythymic support) helps to create that special atmosphere associated with these pieces.

At the same time, however, the immortal compositions of songwriters such as Mack David, Richard M.Sherman, Tom Blackburn, Ned Washington and Larry Morey, all previously interpreted by jazz and pop greats, in our version, somewhere between swing and classic, seem to acquire a new "look," a new sound.

The show is in two parts and is based on six of the greatest Disney film scores. We have purposefully chosen from the earliest classics, which we find particularly suited to the stylistic idea of our project, as well as to our ensemble's instrumentation.
