LIVING IN LONDON

London can make your life difficult if you're lazy and unenterprising.

You'll have to face it without any fear, so you'll see it's a children's game.

If you don't have an adventurer's spirit or lack adaptability, then you'd better stay

home or simply visit London as a tourist.

Those who speak no english at all will have a hard time for about two months.

Everything will be easier when you get to know some friends. Of course your

first friends will be from your own country.

AIRWAYS

There are so many companies that reach London airports. The one I've liked

best is www.ryanair.com which offers very low fares, although you have to pay

an additional £12 ticket to get from Stanstead Airport to central London

 (Liverpool Street Station).

London has five airports: Heathrow - Gatwick - Stanstead - London City and

Luton.

ACCOMODATIONS

HOSTELS

Your second step will be finding an accomodation. At first a hostel will be

ideal for its rates usually cheaper than those of a hotel. You can chose from a

large number with different rates, starting from £70 per week according to how

many persons share the same room.

one address could be:

The Millennium Hostel

FLAT

As the hostel is just a temporary accomodation, you will soon feel the need of

finding a room or a bedsit. A great help will be the magazines you find outside

of the shops, such as Loot Magazine  ( www.loot.com )   or TNT (free)

The price of the rent depends on the area where the house is.

London is divided into 6 zones. The first is the most central. The price of the

rent may also vary according to how far the house is from an underground

station or a bus stop, if the room is shared or not. You can also find a room in

a family if you're a girl and want to work aupair. Prices usually vary from £50

to £90.

Amother type of accomodation is the Studio-flat, a small flat to share with

others.

JOBS

Work is no worry in London. It's really easy to get a job. At first you're very

likely to find a job in a pub or restaurant. But if you have a good command of

the language you can also look for another type of job. If you are a

professional, then you may earn up to £25.000 p.a.

Don't forget to get your tax-back refund when you leave London.
