Typography, The Real World !
The objective of my dissertation is, primarily, that of showing
the differences between legibility and clarity, as characteristics
of a typographical character. Secondly, of analysing the techniques
with which technology has changed the way text components and
other families of typographical characters are laid out, by moving
and superimposing them, thus turning a printed page into a graphical
page. "Baseline", a British magazine specialised in typography,
represents an excellent example of the use of these techniques.
During the last few years, typographers such as Neville Brody,
David Siegel, John Wozencroft and others, have changed and created
new characters which give a graphical sign to the content of a
text. This new approach makes a page vaguely resembles the precious
miniatures of the "amanuensi" (middle-age calligraphers). Next |
