Carpino faces the Lake Varano. It dates back to 1158: the Pope Adriano IV
gave the abbey of Monte Sacro the privileges over the churches of S. Pietro
and S. Maria. These churches were in "castellum capralis". The borough
became important famililes' FEUDO, during the SARACENA and SVEVO-ANGIOINA
domination (such as Della Marra, Del Sandro, Navis and Brancaccio). In its
hystoric centre there are remains of an ancient NORMANNO castle and of a few
little churches. This town is famous for its "Carpino Folk Festival", on on
the first decade of August.
