They
talked about it back in 1046 as Castellum de Serra. There
would have happened a miracle and that is why from then
on the symbol of the village is the roe-buck beneath the
tower. That tower is part of a huge medieval castle and
the town grew beside it. Serracapriola was attacked by
Turkish in 1566 and in 1627 an earthquake distroyed it.
A must-see: the church of S. Mercurio (1700): there are
important paintings and beautiful golden altar made of
wood (XVI century). Nearby the town there are traces of
a neolitic village.
