The first race of formula 1 was disputed in Silverstone, in Great Britain, in 1950 but the origins of the race dated back to 1906 when The automobil French club, organized the first G.P. The race was carried out in two days; there were 1250 kilometers to cover in 12 stages. The race started on 26 of june at 6,00. 22 cars began the race, only 11 finished it. The first winner was Ferenc Szisz (Hungary). The costs, were already astronomical and every constructor spent 1 billion and 700 million liras in order to take place to the competition.



In 1950 a Championship among driver was inrtoduced in seven race: Great Britain, Switzerland, Monaco, Belgium, France, Italy and the 500 miles of Indianapolis. The most important teams were Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, and the greatest drivers were Giuseppe Farina, Luigi Fagioli and Juan Manuel Fangio. After few years The Alfa Romeo abandoned because of financial problems and so in those years Ferrari dominated. Around 60’s, the English teams became protagonists of the world of the Formula 1.

                                          

 

 

 

 

 

Around 80’s Italian and German teams increased their competitiveness.

Around 90’s The Williams Renault (an enlish team) began to win thanks to the ability of its driver Alain Prost who was in competition with Ayrton Senna (McLaren-Ford).

                                                

He was considered the best driver all over the times but unfortunately died in Imola in 1994. In the last years the German Michael Schumacher, thanks to his victories (expecially on Ferrari), is becoming the gratest driver of the history of the Formula 1.
