PROTAGONISTS – MICHAEL SCHUMACHER

Michael Schumacher was born in Hurth-Hermulheim (Germany) on 3 of January 1969. When he was young he moved to Kerpin-Manheim where his father had a track of  kart. Michael started to approch of the world of engines and he dremt to become The Formula 1 World Championship.
In 1984 he won the kart championship. Two years after he met Willy Weber, an important men for his future life. Weber recommanded Michael to Mercedes which made him driven sport cars in 1990 world championship: Michael won a race. He was noticed by Eddie Jordan and made his debut in Formula 1 in 1991 (Belgium). Michael’s debut was very good and his name became famous all over the world

Briatore, Benetton’s team manager, “stole” him to Jordan and in the G.P. of Italy Michael made his debut on Benetton and arrived 5^th. He won for the first time an year later in Spa. In this way Michael was ready to compete with his idol: Ayrton Senna. He won his first World Championship in 1994, the year of Senna’s death. During 1994 he was disqualificated two times because he didn’t respect the black flag. His first victory arrived after a crash (voluntary for many people) with Damon Hill during the G.P. of England, the last of the season. In 1995 he won another Championship on the Benetton, and the year after he moved to Ferrari, which became still competitive.

In 1999 Michael broke his leg during the G.P. of England, but the season after Michael won the  first World Championship on Ferrari, beating Mika Hakkinen on Mercedes.
He won his fourth Wordl Championship in 2001, becoming the driver with the most number of victories; 52. 
During his career Michael Schumacher had proved to be one of the best drivers of the time and this year he could reach Fangio winning his fifth Wold Championship.
