The Gran Sasso Touring

As a German I made my first visit in Abruzzo in November 1973, this country with it’s amazing Gran Sasso Mountains and it was a love at first sight, this beautiful landscape of Italy caught me and invited me to make a lot of excursions biking, hiking, eating, drinking and tasting. During my holidays and with the help of my wife (she is from Abruzzo) I discovered a lot of it’s secrets, maybe the first step to create my little company. These beautiful secrets I included in all of my tourist activities and would like to give them to You.

End of 1988 I moved definitely to Abruzzo . For some years I worked as a tour-guide for the Province of Teramo and for four years as a receptionist in a big hotel, and there I heard a lot !

In 2001 I started with the Gran Sasso Touring, which included all this experience to offer a soft tourism for the tourist who loves the nature and the culture of Abruzzo .

And a soft tourism is what Abruzzo needs. In this region of Italy with it’s 3 national-parks the tourist can find everything he wants: the life at the coastline with its movements and nightlife, he can also find quiet places, the mountains, the forests or little villages without the confusion of a mass of visitors. And there is still a lot of space to meet the nature and the people.

Im November 1973 kam ich das erstemal als Besucher aus Deutschland in die Abruzzen, dieses Land mit seinen imponierenden Bergen des Gran Sasso Massivs, und es war Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Diese wundervolle Landschaft zog mich sofort in ihren Bann und ich unternahm viele Ausfluege mit dem Rad, zu Fuss, auch essend trinkend und probierend. Waehrend dieser Ausfluege und mit der Hilfe meiner Frau (sie stammt aus den Abruzzen) entdeckte ich viele kleine Geheimnisse, vielleicht der erste Schritt, meine kleine Firma zu gruenden. Diese sympathischen Geheimnisse sind in meiner touristischen Aktivitaet eingeschlossen und ich wuerde Sie Ihnen gerne weitergeben.

Ende 1988 zog ich endgueltig in die Abruzzen und arbeitete fuer einige Jahre als Fremdenfuehrer fuer die Provinz Teramo und 4 Jahre an der Rezeption eines grossen Hotels, dort hoerte ich eine Menge !

2001 gruendete ich die Gran Sasso Touring, um mit dieser Erfahrung den Besuchern der Abruzzen, die die Natur und Kultur dieser Region lieben, einen sanften Tourismus anzubieten.

Und einen sanften Tourismus brauchen die Abruzzen. in dieser italienischen Region mit seinen 3 Nationalparks findet der Tourist alles was er moechte: das Leben an der Kueste mit ihrem Vitalitaet und Nachtleben, aber er findet ebenso ruhige Plaetze, die Berge, die Waelder oder kleine Doerfer ohne den Trubel eines Massentourismus. Und es gibt genug Gelegenheiten dieser Natur mit ihren Bewohner zu begegnen.
