The launching of the second phase of mineral exploration in Adi Nefas, Zoba Maakel, was marked on July 30th in the presence of staff members of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Village notables and administrators.

Mineral prospecting activities in the locality has been going on since 1997 by La Source, a French company. The undertaking is now continuing by the Canadian Rift Resource Company.

The current exploration is expected to be a stepping stone for a better outcome, according to the Manager of the Company, Mr. Mulugeta Kismu. Meanwhile, Mr. Alem Kibreab, Head of Mines in the Ministry of Energy and Mines, has disclosed that on top of gold, the current exploration is targeting Copper, lead and zinc.
