By train: [Genova Principe railway station]
After walking out of the station, cross Piazza Acquaverde keeping to the left. Via Balbi is the first street in front of you and the Hotel Acquaverde is at number 29, just after the chemist's. There is another important railway station in Genoa [ Genova Brignole ], which is about 5 minutes from the hotel by car.

By boat: [ Stazione Marittima ] The nearest exit from the harbour is by the Stazione Marittima. Just cross the road and walk straight on for about 200 m. until the crossroads, then turn right in Via Andrea Doria. Follow this road until Piazza Acquaverde, where you will see to your left the entrance of the Principe railway station and to the right the beginning of Via Balbi. Number 29 is the first on the left . LANTERNA DI GENOVA ( Genoa Lighthouse). It's situated on a rock at the westernmost end of the Genoa harbour; the Lighthouse is the symbol of the city, and can be easily seen from many viewpoints, above all from the sea, as it was and still is the harbour lighthouse. The place where the Lanterna stands was already called Capo di Faro ( Lighthouse Cape) during the Middle Ages. The Lighthouse is 117 m. high; its light can be seen from a 36 sea miles distance. Situated in the San Benigno neighbourhood, next to the modern skyscrapers of the new Executive Centre, it signals the entrance into the city for those coming from the west. Nowadays, the lighthouse and its surrounding area can be reached with a short walk along the "passeggiata", built by the Genoa Provincial Authority, which starts near the Ferry Terminal.
