The Cappelletti family had acquired the Farm "VIGNALE" in 1984. They were two Chemists who loved country and wine. The country life really attracted them, so from the purchase of the farm the new owners, (who in 1996 sold their business), made continuous improvements, modifications and transformations in order to reach an ideal quality in production.
The 22 hectares area, nine of which with "Gavi DOC" and Red "Monferrato DOC", is located in the typical original territory of "GAVI" wine. The denomination "Vignale" goes back to the old ages before the Napoleon era, as stated in ancient documents.
The owners have now modified the old farm in restoring some parts and constructing new areas; they have also re-organised the vineyards; moreover, with the help and work of the Milan-based architect Sergio Carlino, they have reconstructed the main body of the building, which now contains the wine cellar, the bottling room, the employees' apartments and another smaller apartment.
The wine cellar, dating from 1700, has been renovated and now is used as a show room, and there lie the pipes of special woods for the maturing of red wine.

The Cappelletti family, with their own deep technical and scientific expertise, have undertaken a company policy of total respect of nature; consequently their production receives the special E.U. funds for the agricultural products made with a minimum use of chemical agents. The lines of this policy were traced by the grandfather of the owner, an oenologist of the school of Alba in year 1889.
Weeding and fertilising are performed in natural way as well, with the use of wild geese which, while browsing the grass and giving back the manure, complete the vital cycle.

The support of the most famous technicians, as the oenologist Dr. Giuseppe Bassi, brought VIGNALE to the nomination in 1996 (with "Gavi DOC" 1995) to the "Marengo" prize from the Chamber of Commerce. Moreover, in the following year 1997 (with wine 1996) the "Gavi DOC Il VIGNALE" has reached the first place, between 57 "Gavi" wines from many local well-known farms. And it is amazing that the first place was achieved again in 1998, with "Gavi DOC" 1997.

After having reached a good sales result both in Italy and USA, the farm started with success to sell wine in the Swiss, Czech, Dutch market and, with even greater success, in Germany. And the continuous supervision of the owners who personally take care of all the business negotiations is a warranty that the quality of the product is maintained at the top, despite the good sales. People from all those countries have appreciated and well understood the effort to reach the highest standard of quality under the maximum respect of nature. The "Vignale" aim is to reach a high value in aroma, in bouquet and in flavour.
"Vignale" tries to give good quality at a reasonable price, and the result is that the sales are in constant increase with the maximum satisfaction and pride of the producers.

The poetry which lies under a hard work and the love for the traditions can be fully appreciated only visiting the farm and the wine cellar.
