How to improve the views
Finally a tip from lame old me. I was bothered by the fact that outside view (or "spot" view, in FSspeak) was so close and zoomed in and presented a completely different perspective from what was seen from the cockpit. Also I like to fly from virtual cockpit with the lights on...

So if you are like me here is the tip:
change the following variables in the files "your CFS2 folder"\situatio\defgnd.flt and "your CFS2 folder"\situatio\defair.flt (the first is for flights starting on the ground, the second for flights starting in the air).

You can just cut and paste replacing the original section [Window.1]

[Window.1]
Order=0
Active=True
Undocked=False
Maximized=False
ManualMaxed=False
;ScreenUniCoords=0,0,8192,6144
UndocCoords=0,0,0,0
ViewType=Normal
ViewMode=Virtual Cockpit
ViewDir=Foreward
CockpitZoom=000.50
VirtualZoom=000.50
TowerZoom=008.00
TrackZoom=000.50
SpotZoom=001.00
MapZoom=011.00
SpotDirection=000.50
SpotDistance=+000500
SpotTransitionType=Roll
SpotFastTransition=True
SpotAltitude=+000010
PanHeading=360.00
PanPitch=360.00
PanBank=360.00
AutoFullScreen=True

If you also would like the light on in the cockpit (it's often so dark even in full susnshine that you probably do) just find the [Gauges] section; at the bottom, turn the variable PanelLights=True

UPDATE: if you change SpotTransitionType=Fixed you get a nice fixed view (thx to Michael 2 for this original tip!)

That's it, hope you like it... ah, here's what "spot" view looks like with these settings:
(handy to check your six in combat or while landing to avoid being run over by your wingmen ;-)
