1st
Day. Thursday. Rome, Caserta, Salerno, Scalea.
Leave Rome at 08:00am. Driving southwards along
the Highway of the Sun passing the fertile fields of the Lazio region
characterized by vineyards and olive groves. Crossing the Roman Castle
territory and the Ciociaria, we will pass by the Abbey of Montecassino
and then enter the Campania region arriving to Caserta. Free time to
visit the imposing Borbonic Palace (XVIII c.). Continue to Salerno.
Free time for lunch and for visiting this 11th century Norman city.
Proceed to Scalea. Dinner and overnight.
2nd Day. Friday. Scalea, Guardia, Paola, Scalea.
Breakfast at hotel. Day tour of the Tirrenian Coast.First stop in Guardia
Piemontese, city built on the 13th century
by the population of Piemonte who came from the Valdesa region and their
dialect is still spoken today. Onto the Sanctuary of St. Francis of
Paola and visit. Return to hotel. Afternoon free. Dinner and overnight.
3rd Day. Saturday. Scalea, Sila Park, Pizzo,
Tropea, Vibo Valentia.
Breakfast at hotel and departure to Sila Natural Park, a forest of pines
and thermal lakes where its possible to enjoy the Natural
Reserve of the Fallistro Giants. Free time for lunch in the city
of Camigliatello. Departure for Pizzo Calabro, charming village located
on a cape overlooking the sea. Possibility of visiting the town to taste
the local specialities such as its truffle icecream or see the Castle
of Joachim Murat Continue to the enchanting city of Tropea and free
time to enjoy the suggestive atmosphere of its lanes facing the turquoise
sea from above. On clear days it is possible to see Stromboli, one of
the Eolian islands. In the afternoon we will go up to Vibo Valentia
from where its possible to watch a very a romantic sunset. Dinner
and overnight.
4th Day. Sunday. Vibo Valentia, Reggio Calabria,
Taormina.
Breakfast at hotel. Morning tour to Reggio Calabria, crossing the panoramic
highway with a view of Sicily, the largest island of the Mediterranean.
Arriving to the Straights of Messina its possible to admire the
city of the same name, as from a balcony. From Reggio embark to Messina.
On arrival, city tour including the Cathedral with the belfry and clocktower
which at midday will delight us with and enthusiastic spectacle. In
the afternoon we visit of Taormina .
Free time to discover the first city of Sicily to be conquered by the
Greeks which is considered and ideal tourist location due to its geographical
position, its mild weather and the numerous panoramic views together
with the flourish of colours. Dinner and overnight.
5th Day. Monday. Taormina, Etna, Taormina.
Breakfast at hotel. Morning visit to Etna, the highest and largest active
volcano in Europe (1.800m.). We ascend by bus up to the highest refuge,
and walk inside two extinct craters to enjoy the unique view and the
moon like environment. Return to hotel. Afternoon at leisure.
Dinner and overnight.
6th Day. Tuesday. Taormina.
Breakfast at hotel. Day at leisure. We can suggest an optional visit
to Eolie Islands. Dinner and overnight.
7th Day. Wednesday. Taormina, Siracusa, Agrigento.
Breakfast at hotel. Departure for Siracusa to visit Ortigia Island,
characterized by its Sicilian baroque. Visit of the Cathedral, the Artenusa
fountain, etc. Continue to the archeological complex, visit of the Greek
amphitheater, the Ear of Dionisus, the Roman Theatre, etc.
During the afternoon the journey proceeds to Agrigento. Known as the
city of the temples because is the best preserved of the
ancient Magna Grecia. Dinner. After dinner, panoramic tour
of the illuminated temples. Overnight at hotel.
8th Day. Thursday. Agrigento, Erice, Palermo.
Breakfast at hotel. Visit of the Valley of the Temples including the
temples of Juno, the Concordia, Hercules and the Temple of Jupiter,
the largest Doric temple in the world. At midday departure for Erice,
located at 750 m. above sea level and well preserved because of its
walls, built in the 6th century B. C. Afternoon at leisure. Arrival
in Palermo. Dinner and over-night.
9th Day. Friday. Palermo.
Breakfast at hotel. Morning city tour and visit to Monreale, the old
Royal city, where its possible to visit the Cathedral, decorated
with impressive gold mosaics. Crossing the ancient Gold Valley
we return to Palermo to visit the Cathedral and the Palatine Chapel,
considered one of the best monuments of the Norman period in Palermo.
Free afternoon. Dinner and overnight.
10th Day. Saturday. Palermo.
Breakfast at hotel. End of our services.
