Nel Medio Evo era una palude, prima ancora era collegata col mare e
numerosi ne sono i resti.Molti i paesi che si ergono sui colli che la
delimitano, tutti deliziosi e interessanti da visitare, tra questi
scegliamo:
Castiglion Fiorentino 15 km da Arezzo Castello di Montecchio 1 km da Cast.
Fiorentino Cortona 30 lm da Arezzo( set del film in preparazione UNDER THE
TUSCAN SUN ) , pranzo alla Trattoria del Teatro o simili.
Nel pomeriggio a scelta visita al convento delle Celle o alle Tombe
Etrusche ( quando aperte) o trasfer in macchina a Montepulciano e
Montefollonico

Incredibilemente dolce è il paesaggio, il periodo migliore per visitarle va
da Aprile a Ottobre, si può andare in auto+bici o con il Treno Natura (solo
quando disponibile ,chiedere programma specifico.
Tra i tanti Paesi che visiteremo: Poggio Santa Cecilia e il castello di
Modanella Castelnuovo Berardenga, Villa a Sesta ( pranzo o spuntino )
Rapolano (con possibilità di fermarsi qui alle Terme , circa 15 euro)

Solo in auto (circa 130 km) , si costeggia il Pratomagno lungo la via dei
SettePonti, al limitare di vigneti, uliveti e calanchi di arenaria, poi si
attraversa la valle per salire all’Abbadia di Coltibuono, visita della
Chiesa e delle cantine della Fattoria, (pranzo o spuntino il loco, secondo
budget ).
Pomeriggio possibile visita all’ outlet di
Prada,poi
Visita alla Valdambra con ritorno passando da Civitella ( antico paese
fortificato a bastione delle due vallate).

by tour guides? Fed up with being surrounded by people looking for the
toilets? Scale things down and relax with a programme that you can make up
as YOU choose. Stay for three nights or longer, as you wish. Choose from
easy walking itineraries, biking excursions, hot air ballooning, gourmet
itineraries, and gentle cultural experiences. Take day excursions by the
local bus and train and get as far as Siena and Chiusi, Cortona . And for the really
incompetent--hire an experienced tour guide for the day!
All the Country is
filled with vineyards and wine producers, both ancient one and newborn.
We give you the chance
to visit in a one or two day tour ( as any place is worth a long stay..it
will be up to you to decide ) most of the interesting places where the
renamed tuscan wines are made.
We would visit old wine
cellars and taste their best production, booking in advance we can also
have additional “spuntini “ to
better judge the products. We can also supply the guide of an official sommelier who could introduce you into (some
of ) the most secret things.
We have different tours, here summarized for
semplicity (and privacy, for further details ,please see the catalogue or
ask to us):
1 Terra d’Arezzo (2 day suggested ): 3 are the cellars we
suggest here, all placed in ancient villas then, from Arezzo, we leave for
Castiglion Fiorentino, see the Castel of Montecchio and from there to
Cortona for 2 more cellars.
Then Monsigliolo, we
cross the Valdichiana and
reach Marciano and lucignano,2 wonderful little villages with their own
cellars, then we head to Monte
S. Savino, and through a wonderful road reach the Val d’Ambra, where a lot
of cellars wait for us ( Pergine, Bucine and a short visit to the Castle of
Cennina and Montebenichi).
Then , we reach
Montevarchi and the western part of Chianti, full of beautiful villas and
wine cellars where we could stop. From there we cross the Valdarno and
reach another production area, under the Pratomagno mount. The road flow
sinuously near ancient panoramas ( Leonardo da Vinci’s Gioconda is told
painted in these places ) and sweet vineyards. Several restaurants promise
a restorating stop, we’ll also visit the Tenuta del Borro, formerly of
Prince of Savoia, now owned by Ferragamo as guest House. Return to Arezzo
2 Montepulciano and it
sorroundings.
We start from Arezzo
and, after ½ hour reach the Tenuta l’Amorosa (short visit) , from there we
will head for Montepulciano, passing by beautfiful surroundings, Montepulciano is really worth a
long visit with its churches and cellars, then in the afternoon, we will
get down nearby the Trasimeno Lake, will visit 2 more cellars and in the
evening we could get back to Arezzo or eat in Cortona
3 Southern Chianti
Castelnuovo Berardenga
is the town where The Road of Chianti begins, old land of furious battles
between Florence and Siena, it is now filled with ancient castles and wine
producers which welcome tourists.We will visit up to 3 farms and then we
will head towards the Castello di Brolio, but before we will unveil a rare
jewel (which will not name here ) , a 13th century small village
now completely readapted as hotel and wine production farm.Really
astonishing!
From Brolio, set of
several films, we will head toword Radda in Chianti, will find and visit
far more Castles and , ate least, the famous Abbazia di Coltibuono, where
will visit the 12th century Abbey, the cellars and the nouvelle
cuisine Restaurant ( in summer can also find musical soirees ). Return
to Arezzo in the night.
4 TRENO NATURA, Nature
train.
We also suggest one of
the best experience you could have here: in a spring or summer weekend,
we take you and get this train
and let you in this ancient, wonderful country called “Crete Senesi” : An
old historical train will lead you back in the Time ,from Asciano to
Montalcino Scalo, passing from Trequanda,Torrenieri, S.Angelo,Camignano,
Murlo, Buonconvento, Castenuovo Berardenga. Each one is a small, ancient
wonderful town! You will have the chance to have a fast look from your
seat, just to make you decide that will come back and relocate.
The train crosses
ancient country, left as it was centuries ago in the Middle Age, but you
will find the comfort of 21 century. It deasl with one of the most
intersting experience you could have here, and you could INTEGRATE it with your own bike. Only one
difficulty: trains are very few, places too, so,must book for time.
