Bounce Girl

Pub: Cameo Press
Price: $1.95
Notes: written with Gerda Koontz - reprinted as Aphrodisiac Girl (1973)

"Do you like sex? Well, this is your book. To make sure the humor would be absurd, we spent time researching all the absurd places we could think of gathering material - like supermarkets, laundromats, the state senate building, meetings of anti-smut crusaders, and town libraries. To make sure the comedy was black, we wrote at night. To make sure the adventures were wild, we had a real monkey and an untamed lion read the manuscript-in-progress and comment on it. To make sure every chapter contained suspense, we wrote the entire book from a ledge on the fifteenth floor at a hotel - at a desk with three legs. And to make certain there was a great deal of sex (our favorite subject) we arranged to have lust-crazed sex fiends rub us down with honey and oil every morning....."

Dark of the Woods

Pub: Ace Double
Price: $0.75
Notes: Ace Doubles feature two different books in one. "Dark of the Woods" is published with Koontz's early short story collection Soft Come the Dragons

This is an adventure set on another planet. An Earthman falls in love with a winged woman, and their forbidden interracial romance makes them the target of government executioners. Parts of the novel are lyrical, nonetheless it remains an immature work.
From the book:
"Blessed shalt thou be in the city and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Thou shalt be blessed above all... Our holy empire of the Alliance of mankind has fulfilled our destiny. Remember the many heroic humans who have died in conquering the stars for you. Therefore, do not let misguided sympathy toward inferior and conquered animals deter you from your inherent title of divine rulers of the universe."

The Dark Symphony

Pub: Lancer
Price: $0.75
Notes: originally written in 1968 but published only two years later.

From the back cover of the Italian edition: centuries ago the Earth was plagued by a series of devastating wars, but numerous colonies of rebels and political refugees left unharmed for the distant space. From their own planet the Musicians decided to come back, one day, in order to regain control of the world that had chased them away: they decided to come back and seek revenge.
Now the great city-state of the Musicians stands tall with its buildings of pure sound and its untrespassable walls in the middle of a harsh valley, where people who could hardly be called men live: the Mutants.
But the seed of a strange riot has been sown among the last breed of those who were the original owners of the Earth, and it also affects a young Musician with an incredible secret in his past. Caught in the middle of the rebellion that's been stewing for twenty years, he will have to fight for his life through the only possible way out: death.

Hell's Gate

Pub: Lancer
Price: $0.75

"He came out of the dark night with only another man's name...a man who would soon be found floating in a distant river. He was a man without a past, without a future; he had only a bloody mission. His first act was violent murder! He was a man...or was he? Just who was Victor Salsbury? And if he was not a man, then...what was he? And who were the unseen masters, who issue orders only on whim? What were their plans for the world... plans so horrifying that they could change an unfeeling, nonhuman creature into a frightened human!"
