He overturns the hypocrisies and contradictions of the FBI, and takes you straight to the scene - first, to the tragedy of Ruby Ridge, then to the colorful neo-Nazi- and protester-filled roadblock, and finally to the courtroom, where prosecutors and flamboyant defense attorney Gerry Spence go head to head."

Beautiful Death - Art of the Cemetery Pub: Penguin Studio

Notes: introduction by Koontz.

From Urban Desires: "While based in Paris, acclaimed photographer David Robinson roamed the cemeteries of Europe. Over a period of two years he took more than ten thousand photographs of cemeteries, including P'ere-Lachaise, Montparnasse, and Montmartre in Paris, the cemeteries of London and village churchyards in England, the Jewish cemetery in Prague, and cemeteries across France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. His images convey the strange yet affecting beauty of cemeteries. Tombs, headstones, the clasping of marble hands, faded flowers, beaded wreaths - are all the emblems of death, and to some, a celebration of lives which have passed.
Beautiful Death brings us 150 of the most stirring of these images. Dean Koontz includes a moving personal memoir of his parents and a mysterious family secret taken to the grave."

From the introduction: "In the monuments we build to loved ones lost, we express a courageous hope that elevates us."

Notes: Filled with pics, interviews of the original stars and essays by various authors, this is a non-fiction tribute to the classic horror film and the SF novel by Jack Finney on which it was based. Introduction by Dean Koontz; essays by authors including Stephen King, Billie Sue Mosiman and Tom Piccirilli. The 1978 version of the film is also covered.

From the introduction: "When modern men and women lost religious faith, they lost the associated belief that human beings are special, that we were created with purpose to undertake a life with meaning. Science, technology, and politics have not yet filled that void and probably never will be able to do so, especially not if they continue to be powered by ideologies that have thus far informed them. If we believe that we are just animals, without immortal souls, we are already but one step removed from pod people."
