The Museum has a set coming from the fondo Scaglione. The place of the Museum is family Scaglione's house. The present state of the house, situated in the earth of the storic centre, is the result of a big operation of structural modifications made in the last century. The structure is like nineteenth-century bourgeois house on two levels. All the rooms are closed with vaults almost always painted tempera, and the floors have interesting nineteenth-century majolica still. Via the staircase and the entrance, which preserves photografs, souvenirs, the most intimate objects that belonged to the family, you get to the so called "paraqua" room, which takes its name from the curious pattern in the ceiling decoration, it is a room furnished with pieces of Sicilian craft, including a Madonna with Child which can be attributed to G. Portaluni from Licata. It is here that are displayed eighteenth-century paintings attributed to Sciacca artists like G.Tresca, and M. Rossi, besides a painting on glass of St. Jerome by G.Velasco while works from the circle of F.Manno, G.Martorana, and G. Provenzani broaden the panorama of Sicilian painting in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The Museum has Greek and Roman coins, mineral and Sicilian corals, besides it has folk objects from traditional craft, like the nineteenth-century nuptial chests typical of Sciacca production and like the ivory Crucifix decorated with mother of pearl and bronze. In the study, where you breathe the memory of time more than in other rooms, you can notice album of postcards and precious collections of engravins.
