BIOGRAPHY

Mauro Massaro was born in La Maddalena (SS), a little island of Mediterranean Sea between Sardinia and Corse,on the 10th of May 1966.
He started drawing very young driven by strong passion. In his first works he uses  inks,pencils and mixed techniques(water colours and inks).
Then, studying by himself new techniques and thanks to the good suggestions of the italian painter Gianni Arbrile he discovers the strength of oil colours.
He paints with the pure colour on several surfaces(cotton canvas, jute, wood) using different tools but mainly spatula.
His paintings appear very thick.

He takes part in many art contests  and art-exhibitions in Italy, gaining positive comments from italian art critics.

His technique and his palette are still evolving while the subjects are always the same: the landscape harmony and the grace represented by the female figure.
His target is to stir up positive emotions for who is looking at his pictures, the same emotions he feels painting.

At present he lives and works in Castiglione Torinese, a little village in the hill of Turin.

Chromatic impressions of cosy moments in Massaro's works. He seems to move within the memory thread.
Though his figurative choice, that places woman as pretextly protagonist, the colour is the dominant note in his paintings.
The colour dominates and creates silent atmospheres, like hanging in time, and unreal summer lights.
