"In 1988 I picked up my camera out of frustation and loneliness and began to photograph myself. Motel rooms, showers, outdoors, it didn't matter. Whenever the urge came I shot. The work assembled itself in sets of six images that expressed a feeling or told a story. It occurred to me that I had been photographing my memories, fears and emotions."
