Five hundred years ago, a group of people coming from Lombardia region settled in the area of Pescocostanzo, introducing the art of lace. The patterns of the so called sceda, a sort of graduated lace samplers collection, unlikely non entirely discovered, were taught in families in a direct and practical way. Let's remember the original names of some of these patterns: "crucette", "leschetelle", "la pupuatta", "la retina ch'i rot","la giarra e la frasca". The School program is to teach all these traditional passages as well as all the technical knowledge necessary to develop lace project, design and execution. The School organises periodical lace shows, to let people know this particular lace. In the old building of the school there's also a small lace museum.
