Blasphemy, Sarcofago, Goatpenis (bra), Beherit, Abhorer… the most extreme death/black holocaust metal. Here’s a greek band whom style is to propose that kind of emotions which bands like the above-mentioned has given in the old days. Let’s the singer/bassist Iapetos 666 speaks…

Vanish: The ritualistic question: can you tell me some informations concerning the story of Unholy Archangel? Iapetos666: Unholy Archangel created by me and Agisilaos at 1996 (after bastard) and we release only two demos. In second demo the drums played from Parmenion (no longer exist in band). Now we have a new drummer, Flygerion and a bassist, Xenofon. We record some new traxs. Vanish: Your main band is the well-known Kawir and in that band you play hellenic B/M… why the decision to start another band whom style is something totally different and out of date nowadays? Iapetos666: I’m not anymore in Kawir. I’m out of the band, about 1 ½ year. I create Unholy Archangel before entering in Kawir. With Unholy Archangel play the music who realy love. Vanish: In the inside-cover of “Archgoat Incantation” you’re wearing a t-shirt of the almighty Blasphemy, plus the demo itself presents a cover of “Deathrash” from Sarcofago; well, maybe the following question can sound a little bit silly but I don’t give a damned fuck: from which bands you personally take inspiration for Unholy Archangel? Why the decision to make a cover from Sarcofago (the early ones, when they were mostly “punk” –at least for me- in their look and attitude)?

Iapetos666: I love both bands. We choose to make a cover of Sarcofago ‘cause the other guys from the band likes Sarcofago more than Blasphemy. I don’t think Sarcofago it’s punk (Ok… this was just a stupid bullshit I wrote, but I meant that for me Sarcofago followed no schemes etc. -Ed)! Just only D.D. Crazy (The drummer on I.N.R.I. -Ed).
Vanish: Maybe the monicker “Unholy Archangel” is in relationship with your personality and/or an event that marked the course of your life, or did you choose it just for it sounds good?
Iapetos666: In reality “Unholy Archangel” it’s a aligoric name I choose that ‘cause “Unholy Archangel” can be anyone out or against christianism. I hope you understand me (Approximately…-Ed).
Vanish: What the cover for “Archgoat Incantation” represents? I mean: the logo can remind some B/M stuff as well, but that coin… that bearded man upon it: for me that cover is something anachronistic. However I don’t like it… can you tell me at least the meaning of it?
Iapetos666: Haha. That bearded man is the GOD PAN!!! Now you must understand, why have this coin in cover. PAN is the archgoat.
Vanish: My Heart Bleeds For You’s “top question”: what is your (personal?) definition for the word “art”? Do you consider yourself an artist? In which circumstances the music is not art for you?
Iapetos666: No I’m not an artist but music it’s art of course.

Vanish: Admitted that at least one there is… which is the most recurrent definition you give to your own persona? (Not answered -Ed) Vanish: You are the first greek band which I make an interview with… in all these years of “metal trust” I’ve always associated Greece with only two bands, their monickers are predictable: Rotting Christ & Necromantia. What’s your opinion about the two greek B/M bands for excellence nowadays? Iapetos666: I’m glad that we are the first band for you. I really love Rotting Christ till the album “Thy Mighty Contract” (…but "Non Serviam" and "Triarchy Of The Lost Lovers" weren't nothing bad too -Ed). Now Rotting Christ it’s not a black metal band. The same goes and for Necromantia. In the beginning it’s a great band but now it’s only for the moneys. Morbid or Magus Vampyr Daoloth hears now rave and hardcore. Vanish: Only for curiosity: what thought have you had listening for the first time the name of my ‘zine “My Heart Bleeds for You”? What visions can remind a name like this? Iapetos666: Nothing exactly. Vanish: Future plans for both Kawir and Unholy Archangel bands…? Iapetos666: A releasing of a 7”ep and two split tape with Unholy Archangel. |
