Final considerations

This book is the result of a joint effort, a sort of "logbook" where I tried to report the emotions, the feelings, the notes and also the interviews we made in the first year of the Odysseus project. It's a strange book, a bit particular. An incomplete book, because it doesn't end here and has no pretension of explaining how things go on. Even if sometimes, here and there, I could not resist to the particular fascination of interpreting and explaining the others. It's also a subjective book (as every book is), because I chose what I had to insert and what I had to cut. I was not the simple typist of the job other people did, I also expressed myself. It's a collective book (because everyone has given his/her contribution) and meanwhile a subjective book (because it exemplifies my personal limits). It's an open book because he collects some notes and stories and tries to put them together in a single dialogue, in order to see what kind of "effects" it can produce. I was the only one who could see the whole stories together, while each one of those who took part to the project could only see his/her story or just parts of the stories. So, in order to better understand what kind of "effects" it can produce, this book has to be read and analysed by all the participants who shall also discussed about it; "participants" are for me our immigrant friends who told us their stories and also the interviewers and those who worked on the project in its different activities. It's a book for us, for ourselves. Furthermore, it's a book which represents only a part of the whole activities we organized inside the project (the training courses, the material teachers and pupils produced and exchanged in the school activities, the documentation of the extra-school activities),which are widely explained in the other volume we produced for the second year of the project. We'll surely talk about these themes again, always with the contribution of new friends, in the new activities we'll be able to plan and organize together. I can tell you that, while reorganizing these pages, I could already find some lacks and deficiencies, and I kept on asking myself, just to go on.
